Finding Joy in Life
There was a time I believed joy had to come from big things—major milestones, big achievements, and life-changing moments. However, I’ve started to realize something much softer and more meaningful: joy is already here.
It lives in the small, ordinary moments we often overlook.
Finding joy in life doesn’t always show up in obvious ways. In fact, it often appears quietly throughout the day. It might be a warm cup of coffee before the house wakes up. It could be sunlight streaming through the window. Even something as simple as hearing laughter can shift your entire mood.
Because of this, I’ve learned to slow down and pay attention.
Small Moments That Bring Joy
For example, joy can be found in the smallest routines. A peaceful morning. A quiet moment before responsibilities begin. A breath of calm in between busy hours.
Also, it’s in the little things we don’t always notice at first.
A kind word. A soft pause. A moment where everything feels still, even if just for a second.
Learning to Slow Down
However, slowing down hasn’t always been easy.
Life moves fast, and it’s easy to rush through moments without truly seeing them. As a result, I often had to remind myself to pause.
Even so, when I do slow down, I notice more. I feel more present. I appreciate more.
Meanwhile, the pressure to always be productive fades a little.
Finding Joy in Everyday Life
In everyday life, joy doesn’t always announce itself. Instead, it shows up quietly.
It might be in routines you’ve done a thousand times before. It might be in familiar spaces that suddenly feel comforting again.
Because of this shift in awareness, life starts to feel lighter—not because things change, but because I do.
Closing Thoughts
Ultimately, finding joy in life is not about waiting for perfect moments. Rather, it’s about noticing the ones already here.
The more I pay attention, the more I realize joy was never missing—it was just waiting to be seen.
Weekend Joy Checklist
Try this simple exercise over the weekend. Don’t overthink it just notice:
• ☕ Take time to enjoy something simple (coffee, tea, a snack)
• 🌤️ A moment you stepped outside or noticed the weather
• 💛 Remember the time you laughed or smiled without forcing it
• 🧘🏽♀️ the first thought that came to mind when you paused and took a deep breath
• 👀 One thing you noticed that you usually overlook!
Love always, Cassie❤️

Living in New York gives us the impression that we always need to be moving fast. This is what accounts for so much frustration and lack of joy/peace. When I just migrated here it was such a culture shock for me. My coworkers would be moving lightning speed ahead of me at lunch, for a walk, to the next meeting etc. haha. I still kept that treasure in me, I need to value everything around me. The good, the bad and the ugly. This checklist is killer!!!!
This is so real 🤍 NYC really does push that constant rush energy, and it’s so easy to lose yourself in it. The speed of NYC can quietly steal your peace if you’re not intentional. I love how you’ve kept that gratitude for everything around you the good, the bad, and the ugly.
